A hip hop extravaganza for all ages!
Hip-hop choreographic genius Rennie Harris returns with a thrilling program that pays tribute to the funk music and street dance of the 1970s. RENNIE HARRIS FUNKEDIFIED will feature dancers from Rennie Harris Puremovement American Street Dance Theater as well as one of the most seminal groups since Don Campbell and The Campbell Lock Dancers- "The Hood Lockers". RENNIE HARRIS FUNKEDIFIED will also showcase a live band that pays homage to funk legends such as James Brown and George Clinton. This is a show full of astonishing moves and unbelievable joy.

Rennie Harris is considered the pioneer of “Street Dance” theater.
Rennie Harris was voted one of the most influential people in the last one hundred years of Philadelphia history.
The recipient of numerous awards, Rennie has been given 3 Bessie Awards, 3 Alvin Ailey Black Choreographers Awards, an Ethnic Dance Award, the Herb Alpert Award in the Arts for choreography as well as nominated for a Lawrence Olivier Award (UK). He received a “Philadelphia Rocky” award, Governors Artist of the year Award and the USA artist award for choreography, and voted one of Philadelphia’s Creative Ambassadors in 2010.
Rennie Harris also toured the middle east such as Egypt, Jordan, Palestine and surrounding countries as 1 of 4 Ambassadors for the United States as part of President Obama’s cultural exchange program Dance Motion USA, which was lead by former Secretary of the State Hilary Clinton.
Mr. Harris started teaching hip-hop at the age of 15 with the Smithsonian Institution and continues to teach at various universities across the world.
Rennie Harris created his dance company Puremovment in 1992.
Born from the overwhelming response of aspiring young dancers desiring to join Puremovement, Harris created RHAW (Rennie Harris Awe-Inspiring Works) in 2007 as a second company meant to be a training company focusing on the education of youth and mentorship.
Rennie Harris Funkedified is a multi-media work that celebrates funk music and street dance of the 1970.
Funkedfied features dancers from Rennie Harris Puremovement but one of the most seminal Locking groups since Don Campbell and The Campbell Lock Dancers- “The Hood Lockers.”
