Welcome to the Bird Blog!
Updated: Nov 11, 2019
My name is Rya Greene and I am interning at White Bird this summer. While I am here, part of my work is kick starting this blog! So during these fun yet fleeting summer months I’ll be curating and creating the content you’ll be seeing here. I will be posting a wide range of material including Staff Spotlights, upcoming season highlights, interviews with dancers and choreographers, sneak peek videos, current events in dance, and much more. I don’t want to get ahead of myself though, so let me tell you a little bit about me.

I was born and raised in West Michigan which is where I stayed to begin my college career at Grand Valley State University. I am double majoring in Dance and Public/Nonprofit Administration, which is why I was so excited to come to White Bird as it marries these two majors very well. I’ve been a dancer for sixteen years now with my favorite style being contemporary or modern.

Now for what everyone really wants to know, some fun facts about me :)
Favorite movie: Gone Girl
The song you loudly sing along to in the car: Truth Hurts by Lizzo
Your career path not taken: Politics
Hidden Talent: I can say the alphabet backwards
Favorite Quote: ‘We must be willing to let go of the life we have planned, so as to accept the life that is waiting for us" -Joseph Campbell.
Random fact about yourself or the world: One of my professors at college was in the Gibney Dance Company when they performed in a White Bird series over ten years ago.
Thank you for reading and welcome to the Bird Blog! Stay tuned for my first Staff Spotlight with Matthew Bade, coming up next!
