Internships & Volunteering
Internships
White Bird is looking for a summer/fall interns, ideally starting in June 2013 and continuing for 3-6 months. You will help in areas of Marketing, Audience Services, and Development. You should be able to work 15-20 hours per week, during regular office hours (9am-5pm) at the White Bird office, which is located off of Terwilliger Blvd near OHSU. In addition, we would like for you to attend our performances, helping us set up our lobby display, manage our table, answer patron questions, and load out the lobby display. Please refer to the White Bird calendar to see performance dates for the rest of the season.
Our internships are unpaid, but you will have the opportunity to meet dancers from around the world, see all of the companies perform, and learn more about the logistics of presenting 12 contemporary dance companies each season. If you are interested in becoming a White Bird intern, please send a cover letter addressing your interests and skills and a resume to Sarah Toor (sarah [at] whitebird [dot] org) and Chelsea Bushnell (chelsea [at] whitebird [dot] org). We look forward to hearing from you!
Volunteering
We generally fulfill our volunteering needs at the beginning of each season with an annual event where volunteers sign up for shows that they can work or indicate other tasks they are happy to help White Bird with.
If you would like to be added to our volunteer list and receive an invitation to our volunteer party in the fall of 2012, please email Chelsea Bushnell (chelsea [at] whitebird [dot] org) and include your full name, email and phone number.
Please note that the only performances for which we need usher volunteers are those in the Uncaged Series. (The uses their own volunteers for performances at the Newmark and Schnitzer). At other times during the season, we need volunteers to help with loading out after shows, mailings and staffing special events.
