“A raw and powerful work, which at times is confronting to the point of discomfort. Amplification is not for the faint-hearted or the prudish.”
– Sunday Herald Sun
Amplification runs 60 minutes without an intermission. It contains full nudity, provocative imagery and a layered score, mixed by a live DJ, which will be loud at times. (Earplugs will be available at the White Bird lobby table.)
Phillip Adams, one of Australia’s most provocative and inventive choreographers, returns to our Uncaged series with his masterwork, Amplification. This compelling dance-theater piece examines the thresholds of the human body’s response to sound, light, and physical impact. Skidding, sliding and crashing into a world of body bags, pain, healing, reality, and unreality, Amplification deconstructs and reconstructs the site of impact with a transfixing focus on the body in chaos. FOR MATURE AUDIENCES. CONTAINS NUDITY.
