Based in Montreal, Daniel Léveillé has created compelling dance admired by international critics for its power and provactive expressionism. His dancers are nude, yet his work is leaps beyond mere sensationalism. Daniel Léveillé is searching for something deeper: the elemental, unadorned purity of bodies in motion. Every movement, every pose exposes the human effort and frailty that brings motion to life as muscles flex, twist, and stretch. Daniel Léveillé Danse makes its Portland debut with an acclaimed work Crépuscule des Océans (Twilight of the Oceans) that demonstrates how his imposing dancers reveal all that hides beneath what the choreographer calls "the strange, white skin" - muscle, breath, energy and perspective.
