Founded in 2003, Cedar Lake has already vaulted into the spotlight as one of the finest contemporary mixed repertoire companies, named by Dance Magazine in 2008 as one of the "Top 25 to Watch." The 16-member company has been called "extraordinarily gifted" by The New York Post and is led by Artistic Director Benoit-Swan Pouffer, who spent seven years as a principal member with Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre. Cedar Lake offers a wide-ranging spectrum of both American and international repertory, emphasizing the work of the most innovative and exciting young choreographers working today. The company will make its Northwest debut with a program scheduled to include a compelling work by Norway's provocative Jo Strømgren, The Netherlands' inspired Didy Veldman and Canada's brilliant Crystal Pite, whose company, Kidd Pivot, inaugurated White Bird Uncaged in Fall 2008 to audience and critical acclaim.
