Read NY Times Story on Wayne McGregor--Coming to Uncaged March 4-6
Today's Sunday NY Times has an enlightening article about Wayne McGregor, whose company Random Dance concludes our Uncaged season March 4-6 at the Newmark. If you saw the documentary La Danse about Paris Opera Ballet, Wayne is heavily featured. He is one of today's most accomplished and innovative choreographers, and we are excited to bring back his company (first seen here in Portland in our PSU Series in 2005) with his new, critically acclaimed "Entity."
Brazilian Grupo de Rua Generating Huge Buzz in Southern California
Our next Uncaged company, Bruno Beltrao/Grupo de Rua, has started its extensive US Tour, and is now at REDCAT in Los Angeles. The company has been getting nothing but raves.

As more reviews come out, we'll post them here.
We can't wait to have the Brazilian boys come to Portland, Feb. 3-7, at our new Uncaged venue The Bison Building.

OPB's Art Beat Delves into the World of Modern Dance with a Story about Tere Mathern
OPB-TV is running a wonderful story January 14 and 17 about Portland-based choreographer Tere Mathern, who will perform as part of our White Bird Uncaged series Jan. 20-24 at the World Forestry Center. They also came to interview Paul & Walter (trekking up to our office in the South West hills as the unexpected late-December snow storm hit). You can watch Tere's story on Art Beat by clicking HERE!
Minh Tran Discusses KISS, his new work premiering later this month as part of White Bird Uncaged
"I came out 23 years ago, and I’ve been thinking about this piece for a long time. But I kept telling myself I wasn’t ready, until five years ago, when I was more comfortable with myself, with my relationship and with who I am. Then I was ready to share my own personal experience with the rest of the world. If I’d made this work ten years ago, it would’ve been much louder, angrier, much more flamboyant, because that’s what I felt coming out and sexual identity meant to me. I was waving the flag—I’m queer and I’m here. But now that I’m settled down and comfortable with myself, what’s the big deal about being gay? And yet, it is a big deal, because I look at the picture of coming out as a much bigger one than just being gay." Read more about Minh and his work HERE
