by imagining that there is no gravity (only heaven), Angiel has reimagined dance.” The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
“Air-Condition”
Founded in 1994, Brenda Angiel Aerial Dance Company is recognized as one of Argentina’s most innovative companies. Artistic Director Brenda Angiel has developed a dance language that defies the laws of gravity, suspending her six dancers from harnesses, ropes and bungee cords. The result is aerial dance that transcends the stationary viewpoint of the audience, subverting the traditional relationships among weight, movement and space. Brenda Angiel’s company will perform its stunning “Air-Condition,” encompassing riveting solos and duets against a wall, and complex ensembles of dancers suspended, bouncing and flying in mid-air. Angiel’s exquisitely trained dancers excite, fascinate and mesmerize, and have prompted John Rockwell of The New York Times to declare, “Angiel is the most inventive aerial choreographer I have encountered.”
