Why Contribute To White Bird?
White Bird makes a difference! We broaden the audience for contemporary dance, support the commissioning of new works, and strengthen the community of which we are all a part.
Ticket Sales cover only 60% of our operating expenses. White Bird depends on your contribution to continue to:
- Bring excellence in dance to Portland,
- Commission more new works by today’s greatest choreographers, and
- Increase access to the magic of dance for greater numbers of youth and underserved audiences
- by keeping ticket prices affordable and - by developing and expanding White Bird’s educational and outreach programs.
White Bird/MKG Financial Group New Works Fund
With the visionary leadership of White Bird board member Mark Gaskill, White Bird has established a dedicated fund for the creation of new works. The White Bird/MKG Financial Group New Works Fund will
- Perpetuate White Bird’s history of commissioning new dance works – over 20 in our first 10 years
- Guarantee White Bird’s ability to help fund the creation of a minimum of one new work each year, following White Bird’s 10th Anniversary Season
- Communicate White Bird’s steadfast commitment to the creative process
- Bolster the local, national and international contemporary dance communities by providing increasingly rare resources for the creation of new choreography
White Bird would like to thank lead contributors MKG Financial Group, Smart Forest Ventures, and board members Ivan L. Gold and Mary Meyer for bringing White Bird within $20,000 of the fund’s $100,000 goal!
